OUR LEADERSHIP
We believe the New Testament model establishes leadership in the local church by a plural team of pastors/elders. In Acts 14:23, Luke records: “When they had appointed elders in every church and prayed with fasting, they committed them to the Lord in whom they had believed.” The term “elders” is synonymous with “pastors.” The New Testament knows nothing of a singular, senior pastor as the primary leader of the local church.
Throughout our history, we have enjoyed leadership by a diverse team of gifted leaders who provide our church with balanced and diverse teaching, along with complementing and balancing each other in the oversight of CFC through their diversity of gifts. The elders’ team also is more effective in ministering individually to our members rather than being limited by a single pastor.
To assist the elders with caring for the church's practical operations, deacons are appointed to meet practical needs in the church and to implement the church's benevolence ministries within our congregation and the broader community.
More information concerning our approach to leadership is available through our “Introduction to CFC Church Life” booklet available upon request.
